Watch The Yard Partners With Stomp Wars For Virtual HBCU Homecoming Experience
Watch The Yard announced Wednesday that it is partnering with celebrated national step show competition Stomp Wars for their HBCU-Know Virtual Homecoming Experience.
In order to engage, rally, and uplift students from across the country, STOMP WARS HBCU-KNOW Virtual Homecoming Experience will be held every Saturday from September 26th to October 28th and will feature HBCU performances from across the nation.
“We at Watch The Yard are looking forward to teaming up with Stomp Wars to help make this year’s HBCU homecoming celebration a lot brighter for everyone since people can’t meet in person this year. This set of digital events is definitely going to keep the spirit of homecoming alive,” Watch The Yard’s founder, Jonathan Rabb, stated.
Now in its 13th year, National Radio-TV personality ROCK-T, from The Rickey Smiley Morning Show, will return as the host.
The events will celebrate the HBCU community by showcasing incredible stepping by Black fraternities and sororities, HBCU marching bands & drumlines, HBCU cheerleaders, HBCU majorettes, and more.
“I am super excited to partner with Watch The Yard because of their constant motivation to keep a spotlight on our African American Culture. Continuing to HIGHLIGHT positive images of our HBCU’s, while sharing amazing stories about our Black Excellence,” Rock-T stated.
Since its inception, STOMP WARS has consistently inspired and helped over 10,000 students graduate high school and pursue higher education. This event over the years continues to rewrite the rules and brings us one step closer to the eradication of social injustice and systemic racism. For 2020, the core message—“Tomorrow can be better than today!”— will be transmitted to the biggest audience yet online.
The event will be powered by The Thurgood Marshall College Fund and Watch The Yard.
Experience Stomp Wars like never before in 2020 as we come together to celebrate our HBCU culture and create a special moment in history by showcasing our BLACK EXCELLENCE.
This event will be STREAMED live from StompWars.com with live simulcast on Facebook, YouTube and WatchTheYard.com.
