Million Man March Organizer Benjamin Chavis Muhammad Is A Member Of Phi Beta Sigma

Did you know that civil rights leader Benjamin Chavis Muhammad is a Sigma? Chavis is an honorary member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.
Dr. Benjamin Franklin Chavis Jr., born January 22, 1948, is the National Newspaper Publishers Association president and an African American civil rights activist. Chavis rose to prominence as Martin Luther King Jr’s assistant and was an inspiration for him in the civil rights movement.

Chavis has a long history of activism and leadership, beginning with his time as the Million Man March National Director. After his first success, Chavis founded the NAALS (National African American Leadership Summit). His commitment to social justice can also be seen in his founding and current role at Hip-Hop Summit Action Network in NYC which he co-founded with hip hop mogul Russell Simmons.
