‘I Guess I’m Paper Now!’, Rickey Smiley Goes On Black Greek Anti-Hazing Rant
Comedian, talk show host, and member of Omega Psi Phi, Rickey Smiley, is not having it with hazing and addressed the elephant in the room by speaking out against hazing during his nationally syndicated morning show.
“What if you done grew up in an abusive home and you ain’t really got no family because every single pledgee have a different background. And then you come to Alpha Phi Alpha, Omega Psi Phi, Kappa Alpha Psi, Phi Beta Sigma looking for brotherhood, fatherhood, mentorship, looking for love. At least you’re not joining a gang and you ain’t out here selling dope. You come into a prestigious college fraternity and to get beat up like that and to get done like that,” Smiley said with passion and anger in his voice.
He followed it up with this warning:
“Imma tell you something folks, all you fellas out here pledging and doing stuff like this. You are one pledge process from one of them pledgees going to the trunk, coming back in there and clearing out a whole chapter.”
Rickey then went on to point out that many of the fraternities can’t use any of their money to do social justice because they are always in court using their available funds to fight hazing lawsuits.
“I guess I’m cat and I’m paper now,” Smiley finished.
Listen to everything that smiley had to say about hazing below and then tell us what you think in the comment section.
Do you think Smiley is finally addressing the elephant in the room and telling the truth?
