These 4th-8th Grade Mentees of Omega Psi Phi Members Just Went Viral With Their Induction Presentation Video

Brothers of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. in Tallahassee, Florida are doing some extremely powerful work in the community as mentors.

They’ve created an award winning Omega Lamplighter program for young men in the community with the mission, “to work with and establish relationships with young men to offer support, mentorship, guidance, & to assist them in their transformation to manhood and instill high leadership and academic skills,” their website states.

The brothers recently published a video of the neophyte presentation style show they held for the inaugural induction class of their Junior Lamplighters, a group of boys who range from 4th to 8th grade.

“This is the 10 year anniversary of our founding of the Omega Lamplighters here in Tallahassee, Fl,” the director of the program, Royle King, told Watch The Yard. “Since it has spread all over the fraternity as far as Naples, Italy. This being our tenth year we wanted to make a bigger mark and touch more lives.”

The performance was filled with pride, respect, tradition and one of our favorite things at Watch The Yard, the reciting of information/knowledge.

The young men marched into the hall where their show was held, through a crowd of family members and people in the community carrying a lamplighter shield and donned in the colors of their mentors, purple and gold. They proceeded to recite the Lord’s Prayer and then a statement that goes as follows:

We respect ourselves, our family, mentors and our community!

We learn from our mistakes and make choices of hope and integrity!

We earn respect, display friendship, and strive for truth!

We are Brothers who uplift each other!

(We Are) Scholars striving towards greatness!

(We Are) Young Men of character who will make our world better!
