The brothers of the fraternity have excelled in leading both large and small cities across the United States for decades.
We at Watch The Yard have taken time to make a list of some of the notable members of the fraternity who have made their mark on the United States by serving as mayors.

Tom Bradley
Tom Bradley is an initiate of the Theta Eta chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi. He was an American politician and police officer who served as the 38th Mayor of Los Angeles.
Kasim Reed
Kasim Reed was initiated into Kappa Alpha Psi through the fraternity’s Nu Rho chapter. He is an attorney and politician who was the 59th mayor of Atlanta, Georgia.
Wellington Webb
Wellington Webb was initiated into Kappa Alpha Psi through the fraternity’s Lambda Omega chapter. He was the first African American mayor of Denver, Colorado.
Carl B. Stokes
Carl B. Stokes is an initiate of the Washington (DC) Alumni chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi. He served as the 51st mayor of Cleveland, Ohio and was the first Black elected mayor of a major U.S. city.
Dwaine Caraway
Dwaine Caraway is an initiate of the Alpha Omega chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi. He is a former American politician who served as the 60th mayor of Dallas.
Chokwe Lumumba
Chokwe Lumumba is an initiate of the Zeta chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi. He is an American attorney, activist, politician and the current Mayor of Jackson, Mississippi.
Alvin Brown
Alvin Brown crossed through the Delta Psi chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi. He served as Mayor of Jacksonville, Florida and was the first African American to be elected to that position.
Alvin Parks
Alvin Parks crossed through the Pi chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi. He is a former Mayor of East St. Louis, IL
Carl Officer
Carl Officer crossed through the Gamma Upsilon chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi. He is a former Mayor of East St. Louis, IL.
Michael B. Coleman
Michael B. Coleman crossed through the Columbus (OH) Alumni chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi. He was the first African-American to serve as the mayor of Ohio’s capital city, Ohio.
Stephen K. Benjamin
Stephen K. Benjamin crossed through the Zeta Epsilon chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi. He is an American politician and businessman serving as the first African American mayor of Columbia, South Carolina.
Luska Twyman
Luska Twyman is an initiate of the Gamma chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi. He became Kentucky’s first African American mayor in 1968 when he became mayor of Glasgow, Kentucky.
Adrian Fenty
Adrian Fenty is an initiate of the New Orleans (LA) Alumni chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi. He is an American politician who served as the sixth mayor of the District of Columbia.
James Perkins, Jr.
James Perkins, Jr. is an initiate of the Eta chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi. He was the first African American mayor of Selma, Alabama.
Michael White
Michael White is an initiate of the Zeta Omega chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi. He was Cleveland’s second African American mayor as well as the city’s second youngest mayor.
Richard C. Dixon
Richard C. Dixon is an initiate of the Wilberforce (OH) Alumni chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi. He served as a city commissioner of Dayton, Ohio, and as the city’s mayor.
Rufus Davis
Rufus Davis is an initiate of the Alpha Mu chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi. He is an American social and political activist, business executive and Mayor of Camilla, Georgia.
Wilson Goode
Wilson Goode is an initiate Philadelphia Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi. He is a former Mayor of Philadelphia and the first African American to hold that office.
John F. Street
John F. Street is an initiate of the of the Philadelphia Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi. He is an American politician and lawyer who served as the 97th Mayor of the City of Philadelphia.
Eric Johnson
Eric Johnson was initiated into Kappa Alpha Psi through the fraternity’s Kappa Beta chapter. He is an American politician and lawyer currently serving as the 62nd Mayor of Dallas, Texas.
William A. Bell
William A. Bell was initiated into Kappa Alpha Psi through the fraternity’s Pi chapter. He is an American politician who served as the 33rd mayor of Birmingham, Alabama.
Elihu Harris
Elihu Harris was initiated into Kappa Alpha Psi through the fraternity’s Alpha Lambda chapter. He served as the 46th Mayor of Oakland, California.
Johnny Ford
Johnny Ford was initiated into Kappa Alpha Psi through the fraternity’s Gamma chapter. He is an American politician and mayor of Tuskegee, Alabama, and a former Alabama State Representative.
