Kappa Alpha Psi Brother Eric Usher Develops ‘Prophytes App’ an App for Greek Life
Over the last 20 years, there have been multiple attempts to create social media platforms for the Black greek community and Eric Usher’s Prophytes App is one of the quickly growing platforms in the scene.
The newly released Prophytes App is available on The App Store and Google Play and serves as a fraternity and sorority network marketplace, connecting members of the Greek Life community.
As a charter member of Omicron Omega Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi, Fraternity Inc., Usher says that he knows first-hand how difficult it can be to connect with members of the Divine 9 globally, despite society’s growing use of social media. After seeing a significant gap for Black Greek members, Usher founded Prophytes App at the age of 28.
According to Usher, the app is now 20,000 members strong.
“I see daily how much other members from a different organization support each other and I hope I live to see the day when all Divine 9 members are united,” said Usher.
Prophytes isn’t Usher’s first venture as an entrepreneur. He also served as the president of Heraclius, a digital marketing agency and a board member and marketing director of Moolah Mobile, a black-owned telecommunication company. Eric is the author of “Pledging For Success,” which depicts the lessons he learned as a member of Kappa Alpha Psi, Fraternity Inc., and how those lessons apply to everyday life and business.
While Prophytes App serves as a place for making priceless connections, it also can be used by Black Greeks to find and sell authentic Greek apparel. The Greek Life Vendor Marketplace gives other innovative fraternity and sorority members the opportunity to make additional income selling directly to their brothers and sister.
