Dr. Sesha Joi Moon, a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., is the new Director of the House of Representatives Office of Diversity and Inclusion.
According to the press release, “the Office of Diversity and Inclusion is an independent and nonpartisan office tasked with improving the recruitment, retention and development of a diverse House workforce. The Office also acts as a resource for House offices and increases awareness of diversity issues among House staff.”
“As Speaker, I am proud to appoint Dr. Sesha Joi Moon to lead the House’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion,” Speaker Nancy Pelosi said during the announcement. “It has long been one of my top priorities to ensure the halls of Congress reflect the beauty and vibrancy of the nation we represent, which is why the Democratic Majority established the Office of Diversity and Inclusion shortly after taking office in 2019. A force for diversity, equity and inclusion throughout her career, Dr. Moon brings the skilled leadership this essential office needs to continue empowering diverse voices and building more open, welcoming workplaces on Capitol Hill. The House Democratic Caucus takes great pride in the diversity of our Members and staff, and we look forward to working alongside Dr. Moon to recruit and retain the diverse, world-class talent the House needs to best serve the American people.”
Dr. Moon is coming to this position from working as the Chief Diversity Officer and Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusivity at the National Institute of Standards and Technology.
