According to reports, it happened at student housing on the 3400 block of Blodgett.
Three suspects approached the victims in the parking lot and opened fire, Houston police stated. The President of the school, John Rudley, said that student who died was a freshman but his is name is yet to have been released. All of the suspects are TSU students, according to Rudley.
“He was a beautiful young man trying to get his life together,” Rudley said. “I wish he was still here.”
Two of the suspects have been detained but the third got away, according to HPD spokesperson Jody Silva.
The school’s President believes guns are too easily accessible.”This is becoming too regular,” he said.
The campus was put on lockdown until Friday afternoon and Friday’s classes have been canceled.
The shooting happened at the same student housing complex where another person was shot overnight. That victim was treated and released.
According to KHOU, it is not clear if the two incidents are related to each other.
