Did you know that Vista Equity Partners Founder Robert F. Smith is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha? Smith pledged the Alpha Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. at Cornell University in 1982.

Robert Frederick Smith is an African American businessman, chemical engineer, and investor from Denver, Colorado. He is most known for founding the private equity firm Vista Equity Partners. Smith attended college at Cornell University where he received a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering in 1985. He returned to academia in 1994 to earn his Master of Business Administration from Columbia University. His concentrations were in finance and marketing.
He founded Venture Equity Partners in 2000. He is the founder, chairman, and chief executive of his firm. There have been reports that show the consistent 30% return rate that he gives to his investors.
In 2019, he made history when he paid off the student loans for the entire Morehouse graduating class of 2019.
