Alpha Phi Alpha Brother From Albany State University Starts Scholarship For Graduating High Schoolers in Orlando
A brother of Alpha Phi Alpha from Albany State University is giving back to his community with a $500 scholarship to students at Oak Ridge High School in Orlando.
Bengy Baptiste, a 2016 graduate of Oak Ridge High School in Orlando, who is a scholar and student-athlete from Albany State University has created a $500 scholarship through The Baptiste Foundation for students who graduated from his high school.
“I was raised in a challenged neighborhood,” Baptiste stated. “However, that did not limit me. I want to use this foundation as a way to provide and create a path for those like me. Using my story to help break many barriers.”
According to his foundation’s website, the $500 be awarded to a graduating senior from Oak Ridge High School (Orlando, FL) who has a GPA of 2.5 or higher and has been accepted into a 4-year institution.
The application is short and includes two short essay questions. Students who are interested can apply here before August 1st, 2020.
