About

Founded in 2013, Watch The Yard is the leading digital media platform covering Black college life, HBCUs, and Black fraternity and sorority culture. Built to document, celebrate, and preserve the stories of Black students and alumni, Watch The Yard serves Black communities across both Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Predominantly White Institutions (PWIs).

Through reporting, real-time social storytelling, and national partnerships, Watch The Yard spotlights the leadership, service, creativity, and cultural impact of Black students and graduates nationwide. With more than 2.18 million followers across our social media channels, the platform reaches millions each month through our social platforms and WatchTheYard.com, connecting generations while amplifying what is happening on campuses right now.

Watch The Yard is widely known for its in-depth coverage of Black fraternities and sororities. This includes not only highly visible cultural moments, but also the work that often goes unseen, such as service projects, civic engagement, academic excellence, student leadership, and community impact. Our coverage also spans HBCU news, stories impacting Black students at PWIs, student government leadership, alumni achievements, service initiatives, and the major cultural moments shaping Black higher education nationwide.

Beyond media, Watch The Yard collaborates with brands, nonprofits, and institutions to authentically engage Black students and young professionals, offering a rare multigenerational reach that connects younger audiences and seasoned alumni. This work includes digital campaigns, live event coverage, storytelling partnerships, and civic engagement initiatives designed to inform, mobilize, and celebrate our community.

At its core, Watch The Yard exists to ensure Black college culture, across all campuses, is documented with care, context, and respect by people who understand it and live it.
