Bronco’s Brandon Marshall Of Kappa Alpha Psi Joins His Chapter Brother Colin Kaepernick In Protesting National Anthem

The national anthem protest of Kappa Alpha Psi’s Colin Kaepernick seems to be slowly be gaining steam across the NFL.

On Thursday, during the NFL opener, Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall joined the movement by taking a knee during the National Anthem. It turns out that Marshall and Kaepernick have more than just football and activism in common, they also just so happen to be frat brothers who crossed into Kappa Alpha Psi through the same chapter.

Both men crossed into the Xi Phi Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi at the University of Nevada. Kaepernick being a Spring 2010 initiate of the chapter and Marshall officially crossing a year later in the Spring 2011.

“I’m not against the military. I’m not against police or America. I’m just against social injustice,” the Denver Post quotes marshall telling reporters after the game. “I prayed about this long and hard and decided this is what I wanted to do.”

Marshall, who was the only person on his team to protest the anthem was met with the same hate as Kaepernick, “I looked at my phone and I already have a bunch of hate comments and this is why I’m doing this,” he stated.

Time can only tell what other athletes will join their cause. We at WatchTheYard.com are interested in seeing which other Black greek athletes will jump on board. One thing is for certain, these men of Kappa Alpha Psi are willing to take the heat for standing up for what they believe in.
