Monday it was revealed that the Commander-in-Chief and Kendrick Lamar sat down in the Oval Office to discuss a variety of topics including the mentoring of young men. Photos from the meeting with the president were shared in a new video promoting the Pay It Forward program, which encourages people to mentor inner city youth, with the rapper opening up about his talk with Obama in a spoken word piece while playing basketball with a young boy in Los Angeles.
“I look at where I’m at today and realize that most of my success is owed to the mentors that was in my life,” Lamar says in his spoken word piece about the meeting in the Pay It Forward video. “I sat down with President Barack Obama and shared the same views. Topics concerning the inner cities, the problems, the solutions, and furthermore embracing the youth, both being aware that mentoring saves lives.”
Watch the video below, share with as many people as possible and encourage your friends and family members to take up mentoring. It’s not every day that you see Obama and Kendrick in the same room!
