Zeta Phi Beta Becomes First NPHC Sorority to Join The Hazing Prevention Network
Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. announced today that it has become the first sorority in the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) to partner with the Hazing Prevention Network (HPN). The collaboration underscores Zeta Phi Beta’s longstanding commitment to eliminating hazing and fostering safe, inclusive environments for its members.
The Hazing Prevention Network, a national nonprofit formerly known as HazingPrevention.Org, focuses on educating individuals about the dangers of hazing, advocating for change, and engaging communities in prevention strategies. The organization’s mission aligns closely with Zeta Phi Beta’s own efforts to ensure a safe membership intake process.
“I am honored to elevate Zeta’s anti-pledging and anti-hazing efforts and further demonstrate our commitment to a safe intake process for new members,” said Gina Merritt-Epps, Esq., Zeta’s International First Vice President for Membership. “This partnership supplements our existing initiatives, including the Sorority’s Risk Management Certification, Membership Intake Certification and new member education process, and the launch of the new official anti-hazing curriculum and certification.”
Dr. Stacie NC Grant, Zeta Phi Beta’s International President and CEO, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the sorority’s leadership in the fight against hazing. “I am proud of Zeta’s trailblazing efforts to eradicate pledging and hazing,” she said. “Our ‘Finer Women Don’t Haze’ programming, internal structure, and innovative approaches to ensure safety and sustainability make Zeta the leader in this space, setting the standard for an action-oriented approach with tangible results.”
The partnership marks a significant step forward in hazing prevention efforts within the NPHC and beyond, reinforcing Zeta Phi Beta’s commitment to fostering safe and supportive environments for its members.
