The First Black Four-Star General Daniel James Jr. Was A Member Of Kappa Alpha Psi
Did you know that military pioneer Daniel James Jr. was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi? General James pledged the Nashville Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
Daniel “Chappie” James Jr. was a fighter pilot in the U.S. Air force. He was an original Tuskegee Airman and the first African American four-star general in the United States Armed Forces. James was born in Pensacola, FL, and attended Tuskegee Institute where he instructed African American pilots during World War II.
James received fourteen Air Medals, two Legions of Merit, three Distinguished Flying Crosses, the U.S. Air Force Command Pilot Badge, and the Defense Distinguished Medal among others.
He was recognized by Kappa Alpha Psi in 1970 with the Distinguished Service Achievement Award.
